We can hardly believe that our darling daughter Katie has just turned 16. Where have all the years gone since, as a toddler, she shadowed us everywhere we went and we mean everywhere. Nothing has changed much in that respect as she still likes to follow us, even to the bathroom, and she needs to know what we are doing at all times. Thankfully, she can now spend short periods engrossed on her laptop or watching a DVD but that is a very recent change.
Katie was only 4 years old when she first went to Cherry Trees for an introductory visit and tea. She made herself at home immediately and loved everyone and everything there and we now think of Cherry Trees as her second home.
She goes regularly for day care and weekend stays and, in fact, would happily move in permanently. We are totally relaxed when she is there as we know she is safe and happy.
Over the past two to three years, Katie has suffered with some major health issues and it has been a very worrying and stressful time for us, especially as we have also had some health problems at the same time. During this long period, the staff at Cherry Trees were amazing, so supportive and caring, offering additional visits and even transport where necessary. We really feel we could not have coped without their help.
Cherry Trees has always meant such a lot to our family. We live in an isolated location and have no local access to sitters and company for Katie. We have older children and a much loved grandaughter who do not live locally. It is important to us to spend time catching up with their lives and having some special time with our granddaughter but without Cherry Trees, this would be impossible.
In closing, if Katie was asked to pick her favourite thing in whole world, she would, without a doubt, say Cherry Trees.
